Everton Sack Roberto Martinez
Everton Sack Roberto Martinez – After a disappointing third season in charge, Everton have sacked manager Roberto Martinez.
The Toffees have been disappointing in the league, and are 12th in the Barclays Premier League. They have conceded 6 goals in their last two games, losing 1-3 to champions Leicester City on Saturday and 0-3 to Sunderland on Wednesday.
They won only 5 league games at home all season but performed better in domestic cup tournaments, reaching the semi-final of both the FA Cup and Carling Cup. The club’s fans have repeatedly protested Martinez’s management all season, going to the point of flying a banner reading “Time to go Roberto” doing Everton’s 2-1 over Bournemouth on the 30th of April.
Iranian business man Farhad Moshiri acquired 49.9% of the club in February, and approved Martinez’s transfer, with the club now looking for a new manager. Everton U-21 manager David Unsworth will manage the club’s last match of the season against Norwich on Sunday.
